Cruise ships can expand your world by bringing you to St. Thomas, Yacht Nightwind broadens your new horizons once you arrive. You don’t have to be a daydreamer any longer, living the life for a day can be yours aboard Yacht Nightwind.
Just bring a towel, sun lotion, camera, and your sense of adventure.
St. Thomas Island is the world’s number one cruise ship destination, with cruise lines such as Carnival, Princess, Disney and Royal Caribbean making port in St. Thomas.
St. Thomas cruise ship excursions and day tours are normally geared to a great volume of passengers. Our private charter and regular daysails are a better value and a more personalized day tour for you and your friends and family.
Your day sail excursion starts just minutes from the St. Thomas cruise ship dock, with a scenic taxi ride to and from our classic sailing boat for a peek at some the island’s most breathtaking views, making the most of your time on St. Thomas.
Look What’s Included in Your St. Thomas Day Sail Away from the Cruise Ship Crowds
Many cruise ship passengers book a day sail just for their group or family which allows them to decide their own time of departure and return, so they can have a special day trip on the water all to themselves.
Our normal full day sail is from 9 am to 3:30-4 pm, so you get the most time on the water. Or we can return a bit earlier if your group prefers to stroll along the waterfront at Charlotte Amalie or search for that special St. Thomas souvenir. We have Nightwind t-shirts for sale onboard if you’d rather skip the crowded t-shirt shops on STT!
We also offer a fresh water deck shower so you can ride back to your ship and/or shop “refreshed”.
We are licensed to carry up to 18 passengers so we can accommodate most small groups with a private charter. No need to split up on 2 or 3 small boats or sail on a boat carrying 40 to 100 other passengers. But if you do have a larger group, we will arrange an additional yacht to “tandem” along with us.
Your All Inclusive St Thomas Daysail Includes:
A full day of fun and exploration aboard a beautiful classic sailing yacht
Two great spots for snorkeling or beaching
First class attention from a seasoned and friendly crew
A light breakfast and morning beverages to start your day

Captain Rick and Cathy are saddened with the loss of Nightwind. We do want all our friends, guests, fellow sailors and followers of Yacht Nightwind to know about her demise. Nightwind had a long and very exciting sailing here in the Caribbean. She began day sailing in 1977, we purchased her in 2008. She has always been lovingly and very well maintained during her life time.
Nightwind’s last day sail charter (we had no idea at the time of course) was on August 14, 2017 only a couple of days before she was taken into Independent Boatyard for her usual “spa treatment” (maintenance and inspection by the US Coast Guard). During the weeks before Irma, Captain Rick gave his all to making sure she would be ready for our first sail in late October.
Our plans changed in a flash, on September 6, 2017 she was hit by the roof of a steel building next to the boat yard and was thrown on her port side heavily and severely damaging her wooden hull (four very large holes from the jack stands going through the hull) and broke the mast in several places. Unfortunately, she was a total loss for us.
Yacht Nightwind will be missed in the Caribbean waters by all who just knew her, those who have sailed aboard her, her previous owners and by us Rick and Cathy. Her beauty as a custom yacht was unmatched and under sail she was absolutely beautiful and sail she could. Many of you have sailed her too many times to count over the years.
We certainly appreciate all of you for your support of Nightwind Charters. What’s in store for Captain Rick and Cathy remains unknown at this time. Follow us and check us out from time to time and when we know what the future holds we will let you know and hope you will become part of it.
Thanks to everyone once again.
May Nightwind continue to have fair winds and following seas. We were blessed to have been part of her sailings.
